Connection Services has been building location awareness into its services for the past four years. In its simplest form we are using this capability to assist the user in finding information on services are available to them at their current location with or without GPS.
Our Lightweight Connection Client has specific functionality included to enable the browser to be launched on successful login to a WiFi service and leverage this functionality. The URL used can be added by the user or controlled by the service administration portal depending on the situation and authority levels in use.
This functionality could be used to display Local Advertising to replace the landing page that is usually lost for client-based logins. This could be used to allow client based 'Free WiFi' or diverting the user to a Portal.
